Spotsylvania Man Wins $300K Prize From Virginia Lottery's Mega Crossword Game

A man from Spotsylvania County claimed a $300,000 prize from the Virginia Lottery's Mega Crossword game earlier this month.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A man from Spotsylvania County won a $300,000 prize from the Virginia Lottery earlier this month.

The man, Bernard Logan, won the second top prize from the Mega Crossword scratcher. One top prize from that game remains unclaimed.

Logan was driving from his home in Spotsylvania to Halifax when he decided to stop for gas. While he was at the Speedway on South Main Street in Halifax, he chose to purchase some lottery tickets.

That decision made him $300,000 richer when his Mega Crossword scratcher was revealed to be a top prize winner.

"I about panicked," Logan told lottery officials later. “I called my wife. She was screaming!”

Logan's scratcher was the second of three top prizes in the Mega Crossword game. One top prize of $300,000 has yet to be claimed. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 734,400. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.43.

Logan told lottery officials he doesn't have any plans for his winnings, but he's enjoying the moment.

"It feels awesome,” Logan said. "It’s a feeling that I’ve always wanted to experience!"
