$32K Raised For Family Of Off-Duty DC Cop Killed In Crash
A GoFundMe has raised more than $31,000 for the family of a D.C. police officer from Stafford who died in a motorcycle crash on I-95.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — On June 7, Nelson Casillas, Jr. of Stafford County died in a motorcycle crash on I-95 near Dale City. Two girls lost their father, a woman lost her husband, and police officers in Washington, D.C. lost one of their brothers.
After the crash, William Webber started a GoFundMe to support the Casillas family. In seven days, the fundraiser gained more than $31,000 from 330 donors.
"Nelson was an amazing father, husband, son, brother and friend. He brought out the best in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him," Webber wrote for the fundraiser. "His smile would light up a room and his laugh was contagious."

Casillas was thrown from his Honda motorcycle in a crash on northbound I-95 on June 7. Investigators said he died at the scene of the crash.
In the days since his death, friends and family have taken to the GoFundMe to honor his memory.

"He was always giving and always made sure everyone was well taken care of," Webber wrote in the GoFundMe. "Whether he was putting a drink in your hand, food in your stomach or offering his ear to listen, he was there for you. He will be forever loved and missed."
Webber said he would leave the GoFundMe up as it approaches its $40,000 goal. Money from the fundraiser will support Casillas's wife, Valeria, and their daughters.
