7 Things To Do In and Around Fredericksburg Before Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but some of us can’t wait until Nov. 27 to start giving thanks, decorating with turkeys and getting our hands on anything labeled “pumpkin spice.” Luckily for all the Thanksgiving lovers out there, Fredericksburg has a slew of events to keep you happy leading up to the big day.

Wednesday, Nov. 19

Turkey Storytime: 11 a.m. to Noon

Story time for your little turkeys starts at 11 a.m. at the Barnes and Noble at 1220 Carl D. Silver Parkway. After the story, kids will also get to do a special holiday craft.

Turkey Crafts: 5-6:45 p.m.

Hand turkeys galore! This event at the Rowser Building, 1739 Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford, is for kids ages three to 10. The event will teach your little ones cool Thanksgiving crafts. The group for three to five-year-olds starts at 5 p.m. and six to 10-year-olds can start at 6 p.m. The event costs $12 for non-Stafford residents. Register here.

Thursday, Nov. 20

Turkey Tumble: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Stafford Gymnastics and Recreation Center, at 500 Nelms Circle in Fredericksburg, hosts Turkey Tumble, a gymnastics program for kids age 15 months to 5-years-old. Kids who attend this event also get to enjoy a play pit, a snack and a holiday craft. The event costs $15 and pre-registration is required.

Pumpkin Spa Night: 6:30 p.m.

Finally, one for the adults. Ladies of Fredericksburg are invited to Lizz Creative Juices, at 915 Lafayette Boulevard, for a pumpkin facial, pumpkin treats and door prizes. The event costs $35. Register here.

Saturday, Nov. 22

St. Jude Give Thanks Walk: 8:30 a.m.

Fredericksburg is one of 63 communities who join in on this Thanksgiving walk to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. More than $35,000 has been raised in the Fredericksburg area already this year. Registration for the event, which starts at Pratt Park at 120 River Road in Fredericksburg, is free. The walk includes fun activities like face painting and live music. Teams are encouraged to raise money for St. Jude.

Dominion Raceway & Entertainment’s Turkey Run and Off Road Show: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Turkey Run at Dominion Raceway, 5015 Mudd Tavern Road in Thornburg, isn’t just a fun Thanksgiving activity, it’s also the last chance to drive at Dominion before the raceway begins construction this Winter. The event includes live music from the Breaking Point Band. General admission is $5 per car and contestants can enter their vehicles into the contest categories for $5. Thursday, Nov. 27

Thanksgiving Community Dinner: 2 p.m.

Turkey Day is finally here and what better way to celebrate than dinner with your community? Join Aquia Christian Academy, 56 Foreston Wooda in Stafford, for a free Thanksgiving meal.
