FREDERICKSBURG, VA — An hours-long standoff at a Fredericksburg apartment between the resident and Stafford County Sheriff's Deputies ended when the man turned the gun on himself, firing a deadly shot, authorities say.

Authorities say that on Dec. 7, around 12:30 a.m., deputies arrived at 2200 Green Tree Road to serve a felony arson warrant to Keysean Hodges, 43.

When deputies arrived, Hodges fired several shots through the front door of his apartment, the release says. Deputies returned fire and set up a perimeter.

Crisis negotiators were called to the scene. They made contact with Hodges and negotiated with him for several hours, the release says, before he stopped responding. Deputies went into the apartment and found Hodges dead "from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," the release says.
