STAFFORD, VA—A man who assaulted his girlfriend, threatened to throw her down a flight of stairs, stole her vehicle and led police on a high-speed chase was arrested early Thursday in the northern end of the county, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Bryan Steven Ramos, 19, of Fredericksburg, was charged with eluding police, reckless driving, no driver's license, unauthorized use of a vehicle, petit larceny and assault.

Early Thursday, police responded to a reported domestic dispute at a home on Regina Lane. The victim said she and her boyfriend had been arguing over the course of the previous day and night, and the argument became physical.

Around 11 p.m., he grabbed her and tried to pull her down a flight of stairs—and a witness corroborated as much. He then left the home in her vehicle without her permission. Police later spotted the vehicle in the area of South Gateway Drive and Route 17 and hit their lights, but Ramos didn't stop.

Instead, he drove onto northbound Interstate 95 and began speeding, after which police lost sight of him near Exit 140. Later, though, police saw him dropping off the vehicle at a home in the northern end of the county, and he was arrested.
