FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Thursday marks 365 days since Myrtle the cat arrived at the Fredericksburg SPCA. Now, after a year spent with volunteers and foster homes, Myrtle is ready to find her forever family.

Myrtle is six years old and full of love, according to volunteers at the SPCA.

"Myrtle checks so many boxes for being the purrfect cat. She is as sweet as her name and totally laid back," the Fredericksburg SPCA told Patch. "Besides her waterfall whiskers and her Disney princess eyes, her little white mittens will have you squealing with cuteness."

Myrtle is an easy-going presence around the house. She spends her time finding the softest spot to lay and looking out windows to monitor what's going on.

"When Myrtle first arrived in our care we lovingly called her Myrtle the Turtle due to her rarely coming out of her 'shell' cat bed out of shyness," the SPCA said. "After a year spent in a foster home and bouts at the Fred SPCA, Myrtle is a full-on socialite. She waits at the door for you and will happily greet anyone willing to give her attention!"

When humans are around, Myrtle won't hesitate to jump in their lap for cuddles and scratches. She also enjoys hanging out with other cats.

More information about Myrtle and other adoptable cats and dogs is available on the SPCA's website.
