FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg fire investigators are asking for the public’s help after two vehicle fires in the 1000 block of Myrick Street were determined to have been intentionally set.
The Fredericksburg Emergency Communications Center received a report of a vehicle fire at about 3:13 a.m. on Thursday, according to a release. Units from the Fredericksburg Fire Department and Fredericksburg Police Department responded and found two vehicles on fire. Both fires were extinguished.
The Fredericksburg Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fires were intentionally set, according to the release. No injuries were reported, and the property owners have been notified.
Two individuals were seen running from the scene, according to the release. The first suspect was described as a tall male, about 30 years old, with long dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing. The second suspect was described as a shorter male wearing dark-colored clothing.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Fredericksburg Fire Marshal’s Office is asking anyone with security camera footage recorded between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday, or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, to contact Deputy Fire Marshal Harris at 540-372-1059, ext. 353.
