Fredericksburg Planners To Consider Dixon Street/Mayfield Rezoning Plan (patch.com) — Fredericksburg residents have a chance Wednesday to weigh in on a major rezoning and small area plan for the Dixon Street/Mayfield corridor, including the fairgrounds and Dixon Park. The Planning Commission will consider shifting 44 parcels into the Creative Maker District, addressing housing, traffic safety, historic preservation, and pedestrian connections, with public comment open both in person and in writing.
2. Fredericksburg Man Wins $100K Virginia Lottery Prize From Plank Road Fas Mart (patch.com) — A Fredericksburg man’s quick stop at the Plank Road Fas Mart turned into a $100,000 Virginia Lottery scratcher win that he plans to put toward home improvements. His good fortune also highlights how lottery profits support local K-12 schools, with Fredericksburg City receiving more than $2.5 million in education funding last year.
3. Fredericksburg Teen Found Safe In Woodbridge; Man Sought In Case In Custody (patch.com) — Fredericksburg residents can breathe easier after a 17-year-old city girl reported missing was found safe in Woodbridge and reunited with her family, while the man she was believed to be with is now jailed. Fredericksburg police say he faces an abduction of a minor charge, a serious Class 2 felony under Virginia law that carries a potential decades-long prison sentence.
4. All in Solutions VP named to U.S. over-40 World Cup squad (fredericksburg.com) — A Fredericksburg-based company executive has been named to the 33-man U.S. over-40 training squad for the Seniors World Cup in Bangkok this June, putting a local leader on an international soccer stage. Residents can follow the tournament online as he competes for a final roster spot against elite players from across the country.
5. Columbia Gas of Virginia seeks 11% hike in gas rate (pilotonline.com) — Natural gas customers in the Fredericksburg area could see their Columbia Gas bills rise by about $10.81 a month in October if state regulators approve an 11.11% base-rate hike, with another increase planned for 2027. The proposal, meant to fund pipeline operations and upgrades, would affect 290,000 Virginia customers, while Richmond’s separate utility is also seeking a smaller rate bump.
