Fredericksburg Police Arrest 18-Year-Old In Robbery At Knifepoint

Fredericksburg police said an 18-year-old and a juvenile were arrested after a robbery at knifepoint.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg police arrested an 18-year-old man after a robbery at knifepoint Friday night in the 8000 block of Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard, authorities said.

Officers responded at about 10:20 p.m. to investigate the report of a robbery. Initial reports suggested shots may have been fired, but police said investigators later determined no gunfire occurred.

Police said the victim was assaulted during a robbery at knifepoint by a group of five males. The victim suffered injuries and was taken to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.

Investigators identified Jonathan DeJesus Lovos, 18, of Fredericksburg, as a suspect. Police said Lovos was arrested Saturday and is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Lovos is charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, malicious wounding and conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, police said.

A juvenile suspect also was arrested in connection with the incident, according to police. Authorities said additional charges and arrests may follow as the investigation continues.

Lovos was arraigned Monday morning in Fredericksburg General District Court and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on July 7, according to court records.

Both the assault: malicious wounding with injuries and robbery causing serious bodily injury (second offense) charges are Class 2 felonies. If Lovos is convicted on either of those charges he faces a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison and fines of up to $100,000, under the Code of Virginia.
