FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A Fredericksburg electrician is $100,000 richer after winning the top prize on a Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket purchased at a local convenience store.
The anonymous winner bought the winning Cash Wheel ticket at the Exxon station located at 375 Warrenton Road in Fredericksburg. Virginia law allows lottery winners to claim prizes anonymously, and the Virginia Lottery did not release the winner's identity.
According to the Virginia Lottery, the winner described the experience as getting a "shock" after discovering the ticket was worth the game's top prize.
Cash Wheel is one of the Virginia Lottery's scratch-off games, offering prizes ranging from $10 to a top prize of $100,000. Lottery officials said this is the second top prize claimed in the game, leaving one $100,000 top prize still unclaimed.
The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 897,600, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 5.02.
The Virginia Lottery said all profits support K-12 public education across the commonwealth.
According to the Lottery, Fredericksburg City received more than $2.5 million in lottery proceeds for K-12 education during Fiscal Year 2025. Statewide, the Lottery generated more than $901 million for K-12 education during the fiscal year, accounting for about 10 percent of Virginia's total K-12 school budget.
