STAFFORD, VA — A 19-year-old Stafford man is facing felony charges after deputies say he fled the scene of a crash on Garrisonville Road before being located at a second crash nearby.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 8:14 p.m. on Tuesday to the area of Parkway Boulevard and Garrisonville Road (Route 610) for a reported hit-and-run crash.
Investigators said the victim was traveling eastbound on Route 610 when their vehicle was rear-ended by another driver. The victim told deputies the other vehicle sped away from the scene immediately after the collision.
Witnesses provided deputies with additional information about the suspect's vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.
A short time later, a sergeant responded to a separate crash on Berkshire Drive involving a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses. Deputies made contact with the driver, who allegedly admitted to striking the victim's vehicle on Route 610 while racing, the sheriff's office said.
The driver was identified as Anthony Castro Asencio, 19, of Stafford.
Castro Asencio was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and reckless driving. He was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was being held without bond.
The charges are allegations, and Castro Asencio is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
