FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Virginia Department of Elections requested a primary election to nominate Democratic and Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and local offices.
For this primary, voters will see a 7th Congressional District and a U.S. Senate race on the primary ballot.

Early voting for the primary began on June 18 and ended on Aug. 1. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so any registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary they choose.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing voter registration was Friday, July 24, which was also the deadline to request a mail-in ballot.
Voters can register to vote at the polls and cast a provisional ballot. More information is available here.
On Election Day, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find information about where to vote here.
