FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Picklr's Fredericksburg club will open its courts to the public Saturday as part of a nationwide celebration of National Pickleball Day.
The indoor pickleball company will host its Courtside Bash 2026 from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at its Fredericksburg location, 3700 Plank Road. The event is free to attend, and no membership is required.
According to Picklr, players of all skill levels are invited to participate in open play, beginner instruction, music and other activities during the event.
Throughout the afternoon, guests will be able to join paddle-up games by placing a paddle in the rotation for the next available court. Coaches will also lead Pickleball 101 sessions designed to introduce new players to the sport.
Experienced players can participate on challenge courts, and Picklr professionals will be available throughout the event to play with guests and answer questions. The company said food, music and other activities are also planned.
"On National Pickleball Day, we want every player in America — from club regulars to people who've never picked up a paddle — to feel like they belong on a court," Kathryn Bullough, Picklr's chief marketing officer, said in a statement. "Courtside Bash '26 is how we're making that happen: open courts, no barriers, with every club in the country throwing the same party on the same day. Whether you've played for years or have never picked up a paddle, we look forward to welcoming you to a Picklr court on August 8."
National Pickleball Day commemorates the founding of the sport on Bainbridge Island, Washington, on Aug. 8, 1965.
The event is free and operates on a drop-in basis. New players and non-members must sign a liability waiver before playing. The waiver can be completed in advance at thepicklr.com/courtside-bash. Demo paddles will be available at most clubs for guests who do not have their own equipment.
The Fredericksburg club is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Following the event, Picklr said it will offer membership promotions beginning Aug. 7, including a "buy two months, get one free" offer and a 10 percent discount on annual unlimited memberships.
More information about the event is available at thepicklr.com/courtside-bash.
