Early-Morning Fire Damages Stafford County Home, Displaces 2

A fire that began in an attached garage spread into a Stafford County home early Saturday, displacing two residents, officials said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two people were displaced after a fire that began in an attached garage spread into a Stafford County home on Saturday.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Indian Point Road around 1:45 a.m. for a reported house fire, according to Stafford County Fire and Rescue.

When crews arrived, they found significant fire in the attached garage of the two-story home, with flames spreading into the residence and rapidly extending to the attic and roof, fire officials said.

Crews ensured everyone was safely out of the house and brought the fire under control in about 45 minutes. Fredericksburg firefighters assisted with the response.

No injuries were reported. Displaced residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

Officials said the home had working smoke alarms. The Stafford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
