• Fredericksburg Bob's Discount Furniture To Open With $5K In Local Donations (patch.com) — Fredericksburg residents will soon get a new Bob's Discount Furniture store on Carl D. Silver Parkway, opening Friday, Sept. 4 with a ribbon cutting. The company will mark the occasion by donating $2,500 each to Fredericksburg's Loisann's Hope House and Gladys West Elementary School, with local school leaders and Mayor Kerry Devine expected to attend.
• 'We are getting ready to get to work:' Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity celebrates groundbreaking in Mayfield (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — A new Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity project in Mayfield will soon bring six affordable homes to Davies Street, just behind the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds. Future homeowners, city leaders, and neighbors celebrated the groundbreaking, highlighting years of permitting work, donated land, and Habitat's sweat-equity model that's helping local families move from overcrowded, unsafe rentals into stable homeownership.
• White Sox '26 Draft pick earns first pro homer with his 60-grade wheels (mlb.com) — Fans at Virginia Credit Union Stadium in Fredericksburg watched White Sox prospect Clay Burdette notch his first pro homer—an inside-the-park shot—against the hometown team. The Single-A Kannapolis outfielder used his standout speed to turn a sinking liner into a four-bagger during Thursday's 9–5 win, capping a slow night at the plate with a memorable highlight.
