4. Stuart: Water permit to Amazon would be 'indefensible' (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — A major fight over groundwater near Fredericksburg is brewing as Sen. Richard Stuart urges state regulators to deny Amazon's request to draw 6.4 million gallons a year from the Potomac aquifer for a King George data center campus. Stuart argues the permit would contradict a new state report warning the aquifer is nearly tapped out and unfairly favor a corporation over local drinking water needs. Amazon's local attorney, who also handles projects in the Fredericksburg area, says the company has no response yet.
