Stafford Man Arrested On Drug, Identity Theft Charges After Donut Shop Report

STAFFORD, VA — A 34-year-old man was arrested on drug and identity-related charges after Stafford County authorities responded to a narcotics report at a Dunkin on Warrenton Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office and court records.

Deputies responded around 4:46 p.m. Thursdato the Dunkin near 551 Warrenton Road after receiving information that a man had left marijuana and other items inside the business, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities said the man denied owning the items and provided false identification to law enforcement. Investigators subsequently determined his identity was Tyrell J. Allen and discovered he was wanted on outstanding warrants from Petersburg, according to the sheriff's office.

Allen was taken into custody, and deputies reported finding additional narcotics during a search. The substances were submitted as evidence, authorities said.

Court records show Allen faces two felony counts of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Both are Class 5 felony charges under Virginia Code § 18.2-250. The offenses and Allen's arrest occurred Thursday, and the cases were filed the following day in Stafford General District Court.

Allen also faces a Class 1 misdemeanor charge of falsely identifying himself to law enforcement under Virginia Code § 19.2-82.1. A fourth case charges him with identity theft to avoid arrest under Virginia Code § 18.2-186.3, also listed as a Class 1 misdemeanor.

The sheriff's office said Allen was also served with his outstanding warrants and was being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail. Court records reviewed Tuesday list him as being in custody and represented by a public defender.

Allen's arraignment was continued following a hearing on Friday. A preliminary hearing in Stafford General District Court is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 3, according to court records.
