1. Mary Washington Opens Interventional Radiology Clinic At Stafford Hospital (patch.com) — Fredericksburg-area residents now have closer access to minimally invasive interventional radiology care as Mary Washington Healthcare opens a new outpatient clinic on the Stafford Hospital campus. Led by interventional radiologist Dr. Peter Shahid, the clinic offers image-guided treatments for conditions such as uterine fibroids, vascular disease, tumors, and chronic pain, expanding specialty options for local patients.
2. 'The first monument ever erected to a woman, by women' is getting a makeover (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — Fredericksburg's Mary Washington Monument grounds are getting a $1.6 million makeover to become a more accessible community gathering space with new gardens, paths, seating, and improved lighting by spring 2027. After the city deeded the property to Washington Heritage Museums, local leaders and residents celebrated a project they say will better share Fredericksburg's history and open this "hidden" site to more everyday use.
3. Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc. argues standing to appeal demolition of 204 Lewis Street (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — A long-running fight over demolishing the historic carriage house at 204 Lewis Street is back before Fredericksburg Circuit Court, where a judge will soon decide if Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc. has legal standing to appeal. The outcome could shape how much power local preservation groups have to challenge future demolitions in the city's historic district and around Caroline Street.
4. Suspect Faces Charges In Massage Business Robberies In Stafford, Spotsylvania (patch.com) — A Spotsylvania man with a Fredericksburg mailing address is facing numerous robbery, abduction, and assault charges after investigators linked him to violent robberies at massage businesses in Spotsylvania and Stafford counties. Deputies from both sheriff's offices coordinated the arrest, and the suspect is being held without bond while multiple court hearings are scheduled this fall.
