FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A new walk-in urgent care clinic specializing in bone, joint and muscle injuries has opened in Fredericksburg, offering patients treatment without an appointment, including evenings and weekends.
Mary Washington Healthcare opened its Ortho Urgent Care facility Monday at 4900 Plank Road, Suite 100. The clinic treats orthopedic injuries and conditions that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening emergencies.
Patients can visit the clinic for sprains, strains, sports injuries, minor fractures, joint pain, muscle injuries and injuries caused by falls.
"Musculoskeletal injuries don't always happen at a convenient time, and patients shouldn't have to wait days for an appointment when they are experiencing a new injury or sudden pain," said Dr. Christopher Richards, an orthopedic surgeon at Mary Washington Healthcare.
The clinic is staffed by providers trained in orthopedic care who can evaluate injuries, begin treatment and arrange follow-up appointments when necessary.
Patients requiring additional treatment through Mary Washington Orthopedics will receive a priority follow-up appointment before leaving the clinic, according to the health system.
The facility is not intended for life-threatening emergencies. Patients experiencing a medical emergency should call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
Mary Washington Ortho Urgent Care is located at 4900 Plank Road, Suite 100, in Fredericksburg.
The clinic is open seven days a week and does not require an appointment.
