FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A Stafford man awaiting trial on rape and child pornography charges is accused of trying to arrange the killing of the victim in his earlier case while jailed without bond, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Christopher L. Tinnermon, 51, faces new charges of criminal solicitation to commit murder-for-hire and attempted aggravated murder-for-hire, authorities said. He remains held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Court records reviewed by Patch detail 28 earlier felony cases in Stafford Circuit Court, including two rape charges and 26 charges involving child sexual abuse material. Tinnermon entered not guilty pleas in those cases Aug. 24, according to the records.
The sheriff's office learned earlier this year of a possible murder-for-hire plot involving an incarcerated person, according to its release.
Over several months, detectives gathered evidence that Tinnermon was attempting to arrange the killing of the victim in his previous case, authorities said.
Detectives interviewed Tinnermon on Oct. 28. During the conversation, he made statements consistent with evidence collected during the investigation, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators then executed search warrants.
The sheriff's office said Tinnermon was charged later that day. Court records list both new cases as filed Oct. 29 and identify July 24, 2026, as the alleged offense date.
Preliminary hearings on the attempted murder-for-hire and solicitation charges are scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 16 in Stafford General District Court.
The earlier Circuit Court records reviewed by Patch include one charge of rape involving a victim younger than 13 and a separate rape charge. Those records list alleged offense dates of Oct. 17, 2018, and Oct. 17, 2021, respectively.
The other records include one charge of producing child pornography involving a child younger than 15, 16 charges involving reproduction or transmission of child pornography, and nine possession charges.
The production charge lists an alleged offense date of Oct. 17, 2018. The reproduction, transmission and possession cases list Jan. 1, 2022.
Records list arrests in the earlier cases in November 2025. They show no final dispositions.
A pretrial hearing in the Circuit Court cases is scheduled for Dec. 7, followed by jury trial dates Jan. 13 and 14, 2027. Previously scheduled Nov. 4 trial settings are marked withdrawn.
The sheriff's office said the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office assisted with the murder-for-hire investigation, which remains active.
