SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A Maryland man faces four charges after deputies say he fled an attempted traffic stop at Indian Acres on Halloween as vehicles lined up to leave trick-or-treating activities.
Drew Michael Mason, 37, of Hughesville, Maryland, was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held without bond, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to Indian Acres, at 6437 Morris Road, about just before 8:30 p.m Saturday for a reported hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian, the sheriff's office said. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle inside Indian Acres a short time later, according to the release. When they attempted to stop it, the driver fled, authorities said.
A brief pursuit followed amid heavy traffic leaving the Halloween activities. Deputies stopped the vehicle by making contact with its bumper while another deputy positioned a cruiser to block it, the sheriff's office said.
