Police Search For Missing Student Near 2 Stafford County Schools

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two Stafford County schools were placed under Secure protocol Thursday afternoon as sheriff's deputies searched for a missing juvenile near Mountain View High School, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office reported a large police presence in the 2000 block of Mountain View Road shortly after noon Thursday, as deputies attempted to locate the missing student.

Margaret Brent Elementary School and Mountain View High School were both placed under Secure protocol during the investigation, according to a sheriff's office social media post at 12:06 p.m.

Missing Student Last Seen Leaving High School

The sheriff's office initially described the missing juvenile as a young white male with messy hair, possibly wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.

In a 12:32 p.m. update, authorities confirmed the juvenile is a student who was last seen leaving Mountain View High School.

The sheriff's office has not released the student's name, age or additional information about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

"This remains an active and ongoing investigation," the sheriff's office said in its latest update. "We will provide updates as information becomes available."

Authorities have not indicated whether the Secure protocols have been lifted at either school.
