Another National Retailer Closing 8 Virginia Stores
Another national retailer has filed for bankruptcy and will close all eight of its Virginia stores.
VIRGINIA — Jewelry and accessories retailer Charming Charlie has filed for bankruptcy and will close all of its 261 stores by the end of August, including eight in Virginia. The news marks another closing in what's been a rough year for national retailers with stores in the Commonwealth.
The company's websites shows store locations in:
- Fair Oaks Mall: Fairfax
- Spotsylvania Town Centre: Fredericksburg
- MacArthur Center: Norfolk
- Village At Leesburg: Leesburg
- Virginia Gateway: Gainesville
- Charlottesville Fashion Square: Charlottesville
- Springfield Town Center: Springfield
- Stonebridge at Potomac Center: Woodbridge
The specialty retailer became known following its 2004 opening for grouping women's fashion accessories by color. However, recent times have proved tough for Charming Charlie and the retailer closed 100 locations last year, Dallas News reported.

The retailer said the decision to file for bankruptcy again was made "after the implementation of numerous cost-reduction measures" which failed to stabilize the business and ensure profitability.
Charming Charlie's announcement comes a month after it was revealed that Dressbarn is closing 20 locations in Virginia and all 650 across the United States.
