Antique Car Show Saturday in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Back in the day, especially in the 1950s, cars — be they souped up or simply newfangled — were both a status symbol and a coolness symbol. These days, not so much. Muscle cars have given way to mini-vans and pod-like vehicles that get a zillion miles per gallon but leave much to be desired when it comes to, well, showing off.

But if you happen to venture into downtown Fredericksburg on Saturday, you might be surprised about what will greet you. It's the 60th annual Antique Car Show. From 8 a.m.-3 p.m., everything from Model Ts to those sweet Mustangs of yore will be on full display. Awards will be presented for the top three finishers in each class as well as a best-in-show participant.
