Statewide Tour To Honor Workers At Fredericksburg's Mary Washington Hospital

The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association will be honoring health care professionals at Mary Washington Hospital on Friday.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association will be honoring health care professionals at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg on Friday, Nov. 12 as part of a weeklong tour of hospitals across the state to show appreciation for the workers' hard work and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the tour stop in Fredericksburg, VHHA staff will distribute gift bags to Mary Washington Hospital team members as a token of appreciation. The gift bags include the latest pictorial issue of VHHA’s REVIEW Magazine featuring the voices and images of frontline hospital team members, a “thank you” note, and an assortment of snacks and sanitary items.

Also on Friday, a mobile billboard truck broadcasting a video thanking hospital team members and displaying other supportive messaging will travel to Mary Washington Hospital.

The VHHA team, along with the mobile billboard broadcasting truck, will be at the Mary Washington Hospital parking garage at 7 a.m. on Friday. More than 150 of the goodie bags will be handed out at the security gate of the Mary Washington Hospital parking garage.

“As we embark on this statewide tour to show our gratitude, we do so with those hospital team members on our mind,” VHHA President and CEO Sean T. Connaughton said in a statement. “We thank them for their invaluable work, and we encourage local businesses and community members and leaders to continue to show their support and appreciation for hospitals and their teams.”

One of the goals of the tour is to help re-focus public attention on the critical work of frontline health care providers and remind the public to treat them with respect and kindness, VHHA said.

Along with Mary Washington Hospital, VHHA staff will be visiting several other hospitals across the state. The five-day tour itinerary includes stops at these hospitals:

Monday, Nov. 8: Visits to Virginia Hospital Center, Inova Fairfax Hospital, and Winchester Medical Center.

Tuesday, Nov. 9: Visits to Augusta Health, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Wednesday, Nov. 10: Visits to Sovah Health – Danville, Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, and UVA Medical Center.

Thursday, Nov. 11: Visits to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center; and

Friday, Nov. 12: Visits to Mary Washington Hospital, Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, VCU Medical Center, and HCA Chippenham Hospital.
