Armed Man In Bleacher Brawl At Fredericksburg Prep Hoops Game

An armed man involved in a bleacher brawl during a boys basketball game Tuesday at James Monroe High School was arrested outside: Police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A man involved in a bleacher brawl during a boys basketball game Tuesday night at James Monroe High School, 2300 Washington Avenue, was arrested outside after trying to run away and being found with a gun, according to Fredericksburg Police.

Travon Kymonte Goodall, 19, of Caroline County, was charged with possessing a gun on school property and carrying a concealed weapon. He also faces an unrelated concealed weapon charge in Caroline, according to the Free Lance-Star. School principal Taneshia Rachal sent a letter to parents the next day to inform them of the incident, and said no James Monroe fans or students were involved in the fight.

Rick Wright, whose son Ricky was in the staring lineup for the game against Caroline, told the newspaper he look behind him and saw a large fight going on among teenagers. At one point, he said he saw some "crashing down the bleachers onto people."

School administrators and police cleared the gym after the fight was broken up, and the game resumed after about 20 minutes.
