STAFFORD, VA—A homeowner's stepson and two other men have been arrested on charges related to breaking into the residence and stealing both a gun and a cash-filled safe late last month on St. Stevens Court, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The stepson, Steven Christopher Marks, 18, of Stafford, was charged breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, conspiracy and grand larceny. Kevin Angelo Melo, 19, of Stafford, was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, conspiracy and receiving stolen goods. Timothy Roosevelt Punch Edwards, 27, of Stafford, was charged with receiving stolen property.
On Sept. 27, police responded to a reported burglary on St. Stephen Court. The homeowner said they had been away for several hours, and upon returning found the deadbolt on the front door was locked, which is not how they usually leave it. They also noticed muddy footprints in the foyer.

Soon thereafter, they found that a fun kept in the homeowner's nightstand was missing, as was a safe containing "a significant amount of money." Marks, the stepson, immediately was identified as a possible suspect.
He was arrested on unrelated charges, and this past Sunday was charged with the burglary. The other two men also were initially arrested on unrelated charges.
