Peters is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning for an arraignment. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Truist Bank at the intersection of Warrenton Road and Plantation Drive, police said. When deputies arrived, the robber had already ran away from the bank, according to the police report. Nobody saw the robber use a weapon, but deputies believed he was armed.

As a police K-9 searched for the robber, a deputy learned that a man was entering cars in the Target parking lot on South Gateway Drive. Another deputy searched the area around Target and found Peters on Warrenton Road at the I-95 overpass. The deputy said Peters matched the description of the bank robber and the person going through cars at Target.

The deputy also claimed that Peters was drunk and arrested him on a public intoxication charge. As the deputy searched Peters as part of the arrest, they found the note used in the robbery in one pocket and stolen money from the bank in the other pocket, according to the sheriff's office.
