Basketball Coach Had Explicit Conversation With Student Before Touching Her On A Bus: Cops

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Brooke Point High School basketball coach is accused of inappropriately touching a student on a school bus last month, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities claimed the coach inappropriately touched a student athlete as they traveled to an away game in February.

The sheriff's office identified the accused coach as 25-year-old Tyler Trotter. Trotter is charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child by a custodian.

Trotter was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for May 4.

If convicted, Trotter could face up to five years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

The victim, who authorities only described as a girl, said she was on a Stafford County school bus last month on the way to a basketball game.

"The victim relayed the coach engaged her in a sexually explicit conversation and touched her inappropriately," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.

Stafford County deputies arrested Trotter on March 21. He is no longer coaching with Stafford County Public Schools.
