New Local Mommy Blogger Takes to Patch

My name is Dina Young and I am founder of Moms of Fredericksburg, a free web-based resource developed to help families relocating to, or already living in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  My vision for the website is to reach mothers around the nation who are faced with the challenge of moving their families to a town they are unfamiliar with.  

In addition to providing excellent moving tips such as locating great realtors, setting up utilities, and registering your vehicle, the website also provides an extensive listing of all the great things our city has to offer. 

As a stay-at-home mother with a husband who works in the public sector, our family has moved numerous times over the last 11 years. Each time, I felt overwhelmed at the very thought of moving again because of an enormous "to do" list and no friends or family to call for advice about the area.

There were days when I felt extremely frustrated as I searched the internet for any clue as to what the "good" neighborhoods, schools, doctors, grocery stores, etc., were. I desperately needed to find a suitable home for our growing family but couldn't differentiate between the numerous neighborhoods within the city itself, nor the surrounding areas and sub-divisions.

Hundreds of questions popped into my head as I realized how much work our move was going to be. Would Fredericksburg have all the everyday conveniences necessary to make my job as a "Homemaker" easier? Would my children have access to excellent educational opportunities? Would I meet other local  moms I could form a bond with?

Fortunately, we found a wonderful realtor, and long-time area resident, early on in our relocation process who quickly became our "go to" person for any and all things related to the Fredericksburg area.  Even with her considerable knowledge, I still spent too much time in front of my computer, feverishly searching for answers to my considerable list of questions.
