Your New Hometown

A message to new families in Fredericksburg from Dina Young: Welcome to your new hometown!

Maybe your husband just received new orders, or you're voluntarily relocating your family to enhance their quality of life. Most likely you feel overwhelmed at the very thought of moving again.

Trust me, I've been there. My family has been there.  Multiple times.

Our last move occurred just over two years ago when my husband received a unique opportunity to change fields. I, of course, had an enormous "to do" list with no friends or family to call for advice in the Fredericksburg area.

There were days when I felt extremely frustrated as I searched the internet for any clue as to what the "good" neighborhoods, schools, doctors, grocery stores, etc., were. I desperately needed to find a suitable home for our growing family but couldn't differentiate between the numerous neighborhoods within the city itself, nor the surrounding areas and sub-divisions.

Hundreds of questions popped into my head as I realized how much work our move was going to be. Would Fredericksburg have all the everyday conveniences necessary to make my job as a "homemaker" easier? Would my children have access to excellent educational opportunities? Would I meet other local moms I could form a bond with?

Fortunately, we found a wonderful realtor and long-time area resident early on in our relocation process who quickly became our "go to" person for any and all things related to the Fredericksburg area. Even with her considerable knowledge, I still spent too much time in front of my computer, feverishly searching for answers to my considerable list of questions.

In creating Moms of Fredericksburg my mission is to reach out to the thousands of mothers who recently have, or soon will, move their families to Fredericksburg. With my vision and your input, together we can build a resource filled with relevant, up-to-date information, that's mother approved. Once we get you settled into your new home, you'll have plenty of opportunities to speak with recently relocated mothers such as yourself.

So, let's get started!
