Attendees can enjoy food and music by DJ Chip Harvey, while the first 100 cars receive commemorative dash plaques for a $20 entry fee.

Saturday Strolls (Weekly)-April 4, 11, 18, 25
Join ODHS dogs on easy, weekly walks during Saturday Strolls at 7:45 a.m. Meet ODHS volunteers at the facility, where they’ll pair a dog with participants and head in a caravan to a different spot each week. The strolls are with smaller dogs on flat, simple paths with an indoor backup for wet or cold weather. Don’t miss the chance to get exercise, socialize with fellow dog lovers and give the dogs a chance to explore.

Earth Paws – How caring for the planet connects to caring for animals.Pawsitive Pathways is a dynamic program designed for teens ages 13-15 who are passionate about animals and eager to grow as young leaders. Through engaging hands-on experiences, participants deepen their understanding of animal welfare while taking on real shelter tasks. Teens will get to flex their leadership skills by serving as ambassadors to mentor and assist younger participants in the Animal Allies Program. This unique opportunity will help them develop communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while making a meaningful impact. Pawsitive Pathways aims to help your young teens build confidence, responsibility, and a strong foundation for future volunteer or career opportunities in animal care and advocacy!

Drums Along the Rappahannock: Echoes of Revolution at Ferry Farm
Mark America 250 at Ferry Farm, the childhood home of George Washington. Featuring stirring performances by the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, Loyal Drums of Stafford County, and Revolutionary War–era reenactors and other family-friendly activities, this immersive event connects visitors to the people, sounds, and ideas that shaped the nation’s founding.
Attendees will also enjoy a live blacksmithing exhibit and demonstration by Black Horse Forge, highlighting the craftsmanship that shaped early America. Inside the Visitor Center Gallery, on display will be a rare exhibit of a dozen of Loyal Drums’ historic drums.
This is a FREE event hosted in collaboration with The George Washington Foundation and the Stafford County Historical Society.

Earth Paws- How caring for the planet connects to caring for animals. 
Join the Animal Allies Academy, an engaging program designed for kids ages 6-9 &amp; 10-12 who are eager to learn about life at an animal shelter! Kids enrolled in the Animal Allies Academy will meet on various weekend days once a month from 10:00am-2:00pm. This program will be held at the Fredericksburg SPCA, where your child will get one-on-one interaction with animals! Participants will discover the importance of animal care, shelter etiquette, and responsible pet ownership through hands-on experiences and interactive activities.
Please be sure to confirm the age group you are registering for and that your child falls within that range.

Stafford Dog Club Adoption Event—April 25
Stop by the ODHS booth to meet some cute dogs and puppies at the Stafford Dog Club Adoption event at Mount Church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a demonstration by Stafford County Sheriff’s K9 department, as well as vendors, food and door prizes.
The Stafford Dog Club’s mission is to promote responsible dog ownership through training, socialization, education, community service, healthcare, exercise, love and commitment. Serving dogs and families in the local area since 2005, members connect with other dog lovers and their canines to create everlasting relationships.

Bring your family and friends to the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event will be held at Fireman’s Field Park and inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink at 250 South Nursery Avenue.

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances across multiple stages, along with an art exhibit, games, chalk art, and a variety of interactive activities. Browse offerings from local vendors featuring handcrafted goods, food, beverages, and more. There will be fun for all ages, including face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt or tote bag decorating. Local non-profits will also be on-site sharing information and resources. Special activities will highlight and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. 
Inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink—transformed into the Art Hall—you’ll find more than 30 works of art, live performances, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities including quilt square decorating and an Instrument Petting Zoo. Be sure to pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet and complete it for a chance to win a prize!
