Central Rappahannock Libraries To Waive Fines For Food Donations

Anyone with overdue Central Rappahannock Regional Library materials can bring in canned food items to shave dollars off their fines.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Starting next week, anyone who has overdue materials with the Central Rappahannock Regional Library can bring in canned food donations to shave dollars off their fines. The library will run the program Oct. 13-19, according to a report.

For every non-perishable food item patrons bring in, the library will deduct a dollar from their overdue fees, Potomac Local reports. Items can be brought in to any branch and patrons will receive a dollar per item up to a maximum of $20.

All donations benefit local area food banks. Branches will not accept anything expired or dented, and donations may not be used to pay for lost or damaged library materials.
