Colonel Mark H. Triplett, USMC (Ret), 57

Colonel Mark H. Triplett, USMC (Ret), 57, of Stafford County, passed away August 15, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Colonel Triplett was born on May 4, 1957 in Middletown, Ohio. He was the son of Cecil and Genevieve Triplett. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1980. In addition to holding two masters degrees, Colonel Triplett’s formal military education includes Airborne school, Amphibious Warfare school, Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Army War College.

He is survived by his wife, Fatima Triplett; son USMC SSgt Shawn Triplett (Rachel); daughters Jackie Travis (Tony) of Elizabethtown, KY, Marlene Triplett, and Melanie Triplett; grandchildren Jena Wright, Grace Wright, and William Travis, all of Elizabethtown, KY; mother, Genevieve Triplett; brother Michael Triplett (Paula) of Franklin, OH; sisters Marsha Hime (Bob) of Seymour, IN and Missy Gainey of Middletown, OH.

A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery.
