FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A project is now underway to build a Silver Diner and a Chase Bank at Fredericksburg's Central Park, city officials announced this week.

The new facilities will be located at 2931-2951 Plank Road. The site used to host a Ruby Tuesday's and a Pancho Villa, but those buildings have been demolished.

No official opening timeline has been announced. A Silver Diner spokesperson told Patch that the new restaurant could open in fall 2024, if there are no delays.

The new restaurant will span 5,800 square feet with a pergola covered patio and a full bar. Full construction is expected to begin in spring 2024, Silver Diner told Patch.

On the Silver Diner website, co-founder Bob Giaimo said he hopes his restaurants evoke nostalgia and provide comfort for visitors.

"Diners are known for their unique architecture and generous helpings of food, but the heart of what brings customers back again and again is the people," Giaimo wrote. "It's the folks who serve you and make you feel welcome that makes a diner feel like a home away from home."
