Counterfeit $100 Bills Have Downtown Merchants on Alert

Recognize this suspect? He's shopping for small items, using fake large bills and walking away with real cash, according to police.

Investigators are warning downtown merchants of a counterfeit bill scam that has already hit several businesses.

The suspect purchases something for a small amount with a fake $100 bill and gets the rest back in cash from the victims, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 6’ – 6’2” with facial hair and was wearing a white shirt, jeans, and baseball hat at the time of the incident.

The businesses targeted include Dog Krazy, Hyperion Espresso, and Vivify Burger & Lounge.
