Crash Kills Passenger, Injures Driver In Fredericksburg: Police
A convertible struck a curb and a tree and then went airborne Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, killing the passenger, police said.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A convertible struck a curb and a tree and then went airborne Sunday on Washington Avenue in Fredericksburg, killing the passenger and critically injuring the driver, the Fredericksburg Police Department said Monday.
At 4:48 p.m. Sunday, police received a report of a single vehicle crash in the 2300 block of Washington Avenue. The car was traveling south on Germania Street "at a high rate of speed" when it crashed, the police said. Germania Street turns into Washington Avenue after crossing Fall Hill Avenue.
The passenger, identified as Robert Thomas Lassinger, 60, of Fredericksburg, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.
