Creepy Clown Touches, Growls at Woman in Fredericksburg: Police

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Given the recent, mostly bogus, accounts of numerous clown sightings around schools or in wooded areas, the latest crime report from Fredericksburg Police gives one room for pause.

Creepy clown, indeed.

A little after 3 p.m. Tuesday, a woman reported that while in her vehicle in the 1800 block of Stafford Avenue, an unknown person wearing a clown mask with green hair reached inside her window, touched her shoulder and then growled at her.

The suspect, police say, then ran away toward Seacobeck Street wearing the clown mask and a long-sleeved black shirt. The victim said the growl sounded like a man's growl.

The investigation is ongoing with no suspects.

Breaking and Entering:
1400 block Washington Avenue, 10/03, 1:57 a.m. The reporting party stated that an unknown
person took a television from the pool patio at the residence. There was also damage to the lanai
door where it appeared that someone tried to gain access to the lanai to remove the television
from there as well. Evidence of the crime was collected. This investigation is ongoing.

Vandalism – Attention Upper College Heights:
1300 block William Street, 10/01, 11:00 p.m. Several residents living at this address reported
that an unknown person(s) caused damaged to the fence surrounding their yard. Two of the
residents living at the address also reported that an unknown person(s) caused damage to their
vehicles. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.

1300 block William Street, 10/01, 11:00 p.m. A City resident reported that fence at this location
and a soccer goal in the back yard was destroyed. There are no known suspects or witnesses at
this time.

800 block Bright Street, 10/01, 11:00 p.m. A City resident reported that an unknown person(s)
vandalized his roommate’s vehicle by taking a pumpkin from their porch and smashing it on the
vehicle. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.

1200 block Augustine Avenue, 10/01, 11:00 p.m. A City resident reported that his roommate’s
vehicle was vandalized by an unknown person(s). Damage consisted of a dent on the hood of the
car and the back window of the car was smashed. Evidence of the crime was collected at the
scene by the investigating officer. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.

1300 block Brent Street, 10/01, 11:00 p.m. A City resident reported that an unknown person(s)
smashed pumpkins in her driveway. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.

Larceny/Credit Card Fraud:
Sheetz, 2001 Carl D. Silver Parkway, 10/01, 10:58 a.m. The victim reported that she left her
wallet at the above establishment and when she checked her credit card statements, she found
that an unknown person had used her credit cards at several businesses within this City of
Fredericksburg. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.
