Curbside Recycling Restrictions Loosened in Fredericksburg

Acceptable items now include clean food and beverage cartons (soup and juice boxes, milk and juice cartons).

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The city has expanded its list of items accepted for curbside recycling, including clean food and beverage cartons (soup and juice boxes, milk and juice cartons).

The loosened restrictions are in response to new guidelines from the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board).

deposited in the Eskimo Hill landfill," Fredericksburg Councilor Kerry Devine said in a release.

The R-Board is required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to recycle at least 25 percent of the waste in its jurisdictions, and for the past several years has easily reached the requirement with about a 50 percent mark.
