Deputy's Beyonce Dancing Gets Roar From Crowds

It all began at a Fredericksburg back-to-school event and has mushroomed into internet video gold.

STAFFORD, VA — Unless you're famous or have an incredibly common name, if you Google your name you're not likely to find much that pertains precisely to you.

Unless your name is Deuntay Diggs.

A couple of months ago, he could have Googled himself and perhaps found his bio as a deputy for the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

That was then. But back in late August, Diggs decided to lip sync a Beyonce song, "Formation," at a back-to-school event in Fredericksburg.

It was cute, the police department posted it on its Facebook page, and it gained a lot of traction.

So much so, in fact, that Diggs was asked to do the routine last Friday at a North Stafford High School pep rally.

He did. It was recorded. It went viral. Google the unusual name now, and you'll get nearly 37,000 hits.

He's appeared on ABC News and has requests from other national media outlets.

Diggs told the Washington Post that "none of this is for the attention, and it is not about being famous or being a celebrity. I love people, and I try to give back in any way that I can. When I looked at viral videos before, I always thought it was staged. It was never the intent for it to become a viral video. I am truly just being my authentic self."
