Whether you're heading off to the tropics for Spring Break or just waiting for our own warm weather to roll in, be sure not to take a vacation from your skin care routine.
Fake it
By now we all know the potentially devastating and deadly results sun damage can bring to our skin and our health. So, it's ironic that most of us feel healthier with a tan. I still indulge but only with the fake stuff. If you're looking to be a bogus bronze like me, be sure to loofah when you bathe or use a body microdermabrasion cleanser on your entire body regularly. You'll be especially happy that your skin is super smooth when your faux tan lasts longer.

Because the skin on your lips is so thin it's particularly vulnerable to dryness and aging. To keep your lips kissable, check your lip balms to be sure they have moisture to rehydrate, antioxidants to nourish and sunscreen to protect.

Besides causing the occasional bad hair day, heat and humidity increase oil production. Use a clay mask or clay cleanser to unclog pores and help prevent blemishes. Be sure your moisturizer is oil-free and only use it where your skin feels tight. Mineral sunscreens, like those with zinc oxide, work especially well on oily skin because they're more matte and less greasy feeling.

No skimping
Applying sunscreen is not the time to be thrifty. In case you missed this tip in our March newsletter, use about one ounce of sunscreen to cover your body. It's easy to remember because that's the amount that would fit into a small shot glass. Use a teaspoonful, about the size of a quarter, for your face. Since it comes off when you swim or sweat, set your phone alarm as a reminder to reapply it at the pool or on the court.
With a few additions to your skin care routine, you'll maintain your healthy glow all season long.
