FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Spencer Devon Brewing will remain open during construction work that has shut down part of the 100 block of George Street in front of the downtown brew pub. Utility work has been under way at the intersection of George and Sophia streets since Nov. 21, restricting traffic to one direction on the 100 block of George Street and eliminating street parking.

Both of the sidewalks along George Street and in front of Spencer Devon itself at 106 George Street will remain open during the work, the city of Fredericksburg said Jan. 9 in a media notice. Spencer Devon has regular disc golf, trivia, karaoke, discussion and other events. The brew pub has scheduled live music for Jan. 11 and Feb. 8.

The construction work is being done in preparation for the Chatham Bridge rehabilitation project, which is expected to begin this spring and last about 16 months. The nearby public parking lot on Sophia Street at George Street also will not be affected by the work, which is expected to continue through most of January.
