Driver Charged With Impersonating Police Officer In Stafford
A driver was charged with impersonating a police officer after a Stafford deputy reported that the driver used emergency lights.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man who was charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer in Stafford County was arrested last week, according to a report from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
A Stafford County deputy was off-duty on Nov. 25 when he claimed to see a Dodge Durango run a stop sign at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and State Shop Road. The deputy said he had to swerve to avoid being hit and claimed that the Dodge Durango had flashing red and blue emergency lights.
"The driver of the Durango promptly turned off the emergency lights and continued north on Jefferson Davis Highway," the sheriff's office said in their report. The deputy said that he did not recognize the driver of the Durango as a Stafford County deputy.
