Driver Killed In Stafford Crash Went Undiscovered For Hours: Police

Police in Stafford are looking to speak with anyone who might've witnessed a fatal car crash on Route 1 on Thursday, Sept. 23 around 6 a.m.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 22-year-old man died in a car crash in Stafford County on Thursday, Sept. 23, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. The man's body was undiscovered for more than 12 hours, police said.

Now, authorities are looking to speak with anyone who may have more information about the crash.

Stafford County deputies received a report of a fatal crash around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23. The crash occurred in the 3400 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, near Arcadia Street, according to the sheriff's office.

"Relatives of the 22-year-old male victim located him deceased in the damaged vehicle on the shoulder of the road," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. The victim's vehicle is a grey Hyundai coupe.

The sheriff's office believed that the crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23. However, police said it was not discovered until later that night.
