Drug Take Back Events Planned For Fredericksburg Area

Prescription drug take-back day is planned Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations throughout the Fredericksburg area.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Police Department, as well as the Stafford and Spotsylvania sheriff's offices, will team up with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration this weekend to provide residents with a safe and legal way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

The prescription drug take back day is planned Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents will be able to drop off unused prescription drugs at the following locations:

Fredericksburg Police Department

  • Mary Washington Hospital, Tompkins-Martin Medical Plaza.
  • Wegman's, 2281 Carl D. Silver Pkwy.

Stafford County Sheriff's Office

  • Stafford Hospital Center, 101 Hospital Center Blvd., south side of hospital near ER.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office

  • Chancellor's Village, main parking area.
  • Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, under main entrance awning.
  • Mary Washington Healthcare Emergency and Outpatient Center - Lee's Hill.
  • CVS Courtland Commons, parking lot.

Prescription and over-the-counter solid-dosage medications (i.e. tablets and capsules) will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, injectables and needles will not be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine will also not be accepted during the event.
