Stafford County Sheriff's Office says the juvenile mistakenly put vehicle in reverse at Hidden Lake subdivision.

STAFFORD, VA — A drunken escapade Tuesday night that left a vehicle in a lake and the juvenile driver supposedly suicidal ended with no injuries, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
One of two juveniles involved, the driver, 16, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Around 7 p.m., police responded to a water rescue call at the Hidden Lake subdivision in the western part of Stafford County. Police say two male teenagers had been drinking alcohol at the lake, and one tried to drive the vehicle away from the lake.

Instead, police say, the driver mistakenly put the vehicle in reverse, and when police arrived, it was semi-submerged about 25 feet from shore.
Both teens escaped unharmed, but after the driver was released to his parents and went home, he became violent and threatened suicide before being taken to Mary Washington Hospital for evaluation.
