Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie at St. Mary's

The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team battled St. Mary's College to a scoreless tie in Capital Athletic Conference action in St. Mary's City. The Eagles move to 7-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in CAC play.

The Seahawks held a 23-16 edge in shots, and had 10 corner kicks to nine for UMW. Eagles goalkeeper Tina Brehm had 12 saves, while Kelsey Wirtz had six stops for St. Mary's.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they visit York College of Pa. in another key conference showdown starting at 12:30 p.m.

UMW Volleyball Falls to Frostburg 3-1

The University of Mary Washington volleyball team dropped a four set match at Frostburg State University on Wednesday night to fall to 14-8 on the season, and 4-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play. Set scores were 14-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

The Eagles were led by sophomore Kaitlynn Wickersham, who had 14 kills and 11 digs. Junior Karissa Herrick had 10 kills and two aces, senior Tola Adebanjo had eight kills and 16 digs, and junior Ellen Smethurst had eight kills. Senior Katie Shiflett provided 42 assists for Mary Washington.

The Eagles will play Cal Lutheran, Whittier College, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend in Thousand Okas, California.
