UMW Women's Soccer Blows Past Hood, 7-1
Sophomore forward Erin Reynolds scored three goals, and senior Marianne Dubinsky added a goal and an assist to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 7-1 win over Hood College on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 8-4-2 on the season, and 3-3-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action.
The Eagles struck very quickly on Wednesday, as junior Excy Herrera scored on a Jenny Mayo assist at 1:07 into the game. Just 1:05 later, Reynolds scored her first goal on an Amy Olson assist. Sophomore Kelsey Carter netted the Eagles' third goal less than 15 minutes into play, and UMW upped the lead to 4-0 by halftime as Dubinsky scored on a Sam Lockley assist.
The second half saw Reynolds score twice in a 14-second span, just five seconds off the NCAA Division III record, at 51:57 and 52:11. Hood's Stephanie Weaver broke the shutout in the 70th minute, but sophomore Tina Rader capped the scoring at 84:21.
Mary Washington led in shots, 25-6, and in corner kicks, 5-2. Both Tina Brehm and Charlotte Owens each made one save while splitting time in goal.
The Eagles will host Stevenson University in an important CAC game for Homecoming on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

UMW Men Pick Up 2-0 Victory Over Hood
Senior midfielder Bram Sims and his brother, senior forward Corey Sims, provided goals as the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team topped Hood College, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Frederick, Md., in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles, still in the mix for the top seed in the CAC Tournament, improve to 6-5-3 overall and 4-1-2 in league play.
Bram Sims opened the scoring in the 27th minute on a volley into the lower left corner of goal, and the Eagles carried the 1-0 into halftime. Corey added his goal at 69:40 on an assist from Nick Shepherd.

The Eagles led in shots, 26-6, and in corner kicks, 4-0. Freshman goalie Tyler Back made two saves in recording the shutout.
Mary Washington will host Wesley College on Saturday for Homecoming at 3:30 p.m.
