Eugene Vindman Democratic Party's Candidate In Nov. 3 Election

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-7th) confirmed he was the Democratic Party's official candidate in the Nov. 3 general election.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — U.S. Rep. Eugene Vindman (D), who represents the 7th Congressional District in Congress, will be the Democratic Party's candidate in the Nov. 3 general election.

"It’s official! I am humbled to share that I will be the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s Seventh District this November," the incumbent congressman said, in a social media post on Wednesday. "I will continue our fight to take on corruption, deliver real results, and make life more affordable for every Virginian."

Vindman was first elected to Congress in November 2024, when he defeated Republican opponent Derrick Anderson in a tight race.

Candidates interested in being on their party's ballot in the Aug. 4 primary had to file paperwork by 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Vindman was the only Democrat to file by the deadline.

Five Republicans have filed the paperwork to run in their party's primary on Aug. 4: John Gray, Philip Harding, Darius Mayfield, Douglas Ollivant, and Waverly Washington.

Candidates not affiliated with a party who wish to be on the Nov. 3 ballot have until 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 to file paperwork with the Virginia Department of Elections.

The deadline to register to vote or update registration for the Aug. 4 primary is July 24. Early in-person voting runs from June 16 to Aug. 1.

If local election offices are closed on June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth state holiday, the offices shall open for early voting on on Thursday, June 18.

The deadline to request a ballot be mailed to you is July 24.
