Missing Dog Hit By Car In Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Shaka, an American bulldog and pitbull mix who went missing in Fredericksburg, was hit by a car Friday and died, according to his family. Shaka, described as an extremely friendly dog, was last seen Friday afternoon in the city's River Walk subdivision.

"We are absolutely devastated by the passing of our beloved Shaka," Shannon Young, Shaka's owner, said in an email to Patch. Young and her family learned what happened to Shaka late Sunday morning.

Young expressed gratitude to her neighbors who helped to spread the word about Shaka and were on the lookout for him.
